After months in the making, Lutheran Family Services of Virginia staff joined 11-year-old J.D., his parents Timothy and Sheryl Moore, and their family and friends, to jump for joy and celebrate his adoption at Rebounderz Trampoline Park in Newport News. J.D. has transitioned through 10 foster homes over the past seven years, but now he has found his forever home with the Moores. And what party is complete without cake, pizza, and chicken nuggets shaped like dinosaurs?! Everyone made sure to jump first — then dig in!
LFSVA Board Chair Rick Goeres stopped by to see all of the bouncing fun and to thank staff members for their commitment and hard work. Rebekah Brown has been J.D.’s caseworker since he came to LFSVA in 2018 — through all of the ups and downs. She said, “To see all of this just makes my heart happy. J.D. has had his challenges, but he is such a sweet, smart, funny, and loving boy who deserves to be with a loving family like the Moores.”
J.D.’s adoption celebration was provided by Julie’s Abundance Project. The project provides experiences that go above and beyond LFSVA’s day-to-day operations that the people we serve may not otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy. LFSVA works with hundreds of people every day, just like J.D., who have wishes that we can help to fulfill. Julie’s Abundance Project makes these joyful wishes come true!
