The annual ELCA Day of Service, “God’s work, Our Hands,” happened on Sunday, Sept. 9, and kicked off the annual Virginia Synod Week of Service. Lutheran Family Services of Virginia had an outpouring of support this year as congregations came together to serve our organization through their service projects. Here is a look at the great work they did to provide fellowship and support to LFSVA individuals.

The Virginia Synod office visited our Roanoke Day Support for an afternoon of fun playing BINGO.

Trinity Lutheran of Roanoke also had a day of fun playing BINGO with Roanoke Day Support.

Christ Lutheran of Roanoke built two picnic tables and a picnic area for Roanoke Day Support.

Christ Lutheran of Wise held a fundraising dinner to purchase a slide or the playground at Wise Minnick School.

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and Rural Retreat Parish painted and provided landscaping for Wytheville Minnick School.

Our Saviour Lutheran Church of Christiansburg provided landscaping at Pine Street group home.

St. Mark’s of Roanoke made birthday baskets for all the LFSVA group home individuals.

Bedford Lutheran Church threw a potluck at the Turning Point group homes.

Muhlenberg Lutheran Church of Harrisonburg painted the doors at Harrisonburg Minnick School before students returned for fall classes.

St. Jacob’s Lutheran Church of Harrisonburg and Legacy-Staunton of Harrisonburg collected school supplies.

St. Mark Lutheran Church of Charlottesville put together baking kits for Charlottesville Day Support.

Peace Lutheran Church of Charlottesville collected and donated kitchen supplies for Charlottesville Day Support.

Redeemer Lutheran of Bristol completed a variety of projects at Bristol Minnick School.
