When a family loses hope, the world turns a little darker. We help parents and children find solutions and supports through family support and school-based therapeutic services.
We are no longer offering community-based services (behavioral therapy, intensive in-home and home-based counseling) in the Northern Shenandoah Valley. We will continue to offer Essential Pieces and therapeutic day treatment. Kim Harrison will be happy to answer your questions.
Lutheran Family Services helps families through:
Families are welcome to Essential Pieces, a free educational group for parents of children with autism and professionals serving the autism community. Essential Pieces is offered in Tidewater and Northern Shenandoah Valley.
Essential Pieces Workshops are structured, educational workshops for parents/caregivers, professionals, and/or individuals living with or affected by a disability.
The Northern Shenandoah Valley group has a children’s social group during the adult program, and the Tidewater group, while not offering a social group, has Community Adventures throughout the year. Registration is required for both locations. You can find out more here.
TDT is a school-based program that provides services to help children overcome the mental health, emotional, behavioral and substance abuse issues that create barriers to learning. Lutheran Family Services staff develop interventions that help children improve behavior, which allows them to participate more fully in the classroom, and prevents unnecessary out-of-school placements.
